The value of counting

I made the mistake of not checking my stitch counts, as the pattern suggested, as I blithely knit my Simmer Dim shawl by Gundrun Johnston.   I mean I successfully knit the aestlight shawl what could possibly go wrong.  Turns out things could go wrong.  And even though I had the feeling something wasn't right, my knitting looked much fuller then it seemed it should, I kept knitting.  Even though it seemed I,was using much more yarn then the pattern or other Ravelry knitters used, I kept knitting.   And in the end I had something that was similar to the pattern but clearly not the same.  So I blocked it aggressively.  And I will donate it to someone who will find a home for it.  And some day I will knit the pattern again and count as the pattern suggests.

It got away from me

I planted a small rhubarb plant last fall.  I have memories of rhubarb sauce on vanilla ice cream at one grandmas, strawberry rhubarb upside down cake growing up.  And just an ever present rhubarb patch in my relatives yards.   When we returned from Florida most of my plants had barely come up, if they had sprouted at all..but the rhubarb has thrived.

Caponcho

I'm not sure why I'm on a shawl/ poncho kick these days.  But I certainly can't get enough of them.   On the car ride to Minnesota I finished a Caponcho.   I used 2 skeins of universal shades.  Truly mindless knitting.
Great for riding in car or watching television.

Buttons

Found some great buttons for my ballymurphy shawl in my Minnesota stash.

On the road again

We've begun the migration  from Florida to Minnesota.  Thank heavens for downloaded podcasts.  Yesterday was "wait wait don't tell me" day.  The npr podcast.   Luckily I can knit and ride.  Working on a sock for charity and the "capancho" for me.  Jack the dog is comfortable with my knitting.
